Not Louder. Just Finer
For issue 111 of PRINTlovers, the cover interprets the concept “Not louder. Just finer”, translating a concept rooted in music into the language of print.
Just as in audio production, quality stems from balance, detail and control, so this project highlights the precision of the line and the sensitivity of the printing process. Subtle lines and overlapping strokes evoke the three-dimensional propagation of sound, transforming an invisible phenomenon into an essential and abstract graphic pattern, which nevertheless conceals the magazine’s concept. An invitation to rediscover excellence in moderation, where expressive power derives not from intensity, but from attention to detail and the technical challenge of the three overlapping hot-stamping processes.
Inner paper
Magno Volume is THE heavyweight paper by definition with a matte surface, combining the excellence of coated printing with a warm, natural tactile experience. Made in Europe while maintaining the highest sustainability standards. Benefits: higher yield and efficiency, machinability and stability, faithful reproduction of images and colors with a natural touch. Wide range: available from 80 to 450 g/m².
Hot stamping colours and clichés metallisation
The cover metallisation was carried out by Plastigraf Trevigiana using Zeroplast®, a metallisation process for paper and card developed for the luxury market. This technology involves transferring an ultra-thin layer of coated aluminium to protect and enhance the cellulose substrate. The laminated product is therefore free from plastic film – which is recovered and sent for recycling – yet boasts extreme brilliance and good scratch resistance, as well as being suitable for subsequent print finishes. In the case of this cover, Zeroplast® technology has been combined with Natureal engraving technology, which allows a patterned effect to be added to the silver-metallised surface to personalise the design.
Printing and finishing
To produce the cover, Grafica Metelliana used a 6-colour UV Heidelberg Speedmaster XL offset press, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. The real added value lies in a sophisticated finishing technique carried out using the BRAUSSE SIGNA 105OFI: high-precision hot foil stamping, achieved through the millimetre-precise overlay of three different foils. The result is a design with meticulous attention to detail, which brings out the brilliance and vibrancy of the colours to the full.
Hot stamping colours and clichés
Luxoro interprets the theme “Not louder. Just finer” through three colours from the new Extra!ordinari catalogue: LUXOR® 109652 Graffiti Pink, a bright, contemporary pink; LUXOR® 26290N, a metallic orange-gold with a matt finish and warm coppery highlights; and LUXOR® 111004 Emerging Yellow, an intense, luminous yellow, for high-impact accents. The three colours are hot-stamped using a Hinderer+Mühlich Italia flat stamping die, with separate passes and extremely precise registration. At selected points, two effects overlap to create new shades, highlights and depth: a specialised process that requires high-performance materials and rigorous process control. A project that demonstrates how hot stamping can go beyond simple finishing to become an integral part of the visual design itself.
