Today, packaging is a living space where materials and relationships converge. On the one hand, there is “design for recycling”: the responsibility to design with sustainability in mind throughout the product’s life cycle. On the other hand, there is “design for conversations”: packaging as a space for dialogue among brand values, the supply chain, and people. This dual energy fuels a virtuous cycle of connections and shared choices. Packaging is not just an object: it is a cultural and collaborative gesture.

Cover paper
Creator Vol 300 g/m²
Creator Vol is a classic, high-grammage, matte-coated paper with a satin finish, delivering smoothness and exceptional print quality. With a 1.08 basis weight, it is ideal for high-end publishing, comics, and manuals. Thanks to its high whiteness, strength, and rigidity at medium-to-heavy weights, it is well suited for cover printing and paper-based applications, including the production of bags and luxury packaging. Creator Vol is FSC® and PEFC certified and is a renewable, recyclable material that meets the highest standards of quality and energy efficiency.
Coating and Finishing
KTM (KURZ Transfer Metal) guarantees full coverage without plastic, delivering excellent brilliance and performance. Here, in the SILVER LINE® KTM Gem version, a frosty effect with iridescent tone-on-tone light play enhances surfaces with dynamic, sophisticated reflections. The LUXOR® Beyond Blue and LUXOR® Combo Green hot-foil finishes accentuate the design by highlighting details and adding luminous lines and visual depth to the graphic elements. The cliché from hinderer + mühlich ensures precision, definition, and optimal transfer in hot foil stamping.
Metallization
Plastigraf Trevigiana applied the SILVER LINE® KTM Gem to Creator Vol paper using Zeroplast®, a metallization process for paper and cardstock developed for the luxury market. This technology transfers an ultra-thin layer of aluminium coating to protect and enhance the cellulose substrate. The laminated product is therefore free of plastic film—which is recovered and recycled—yet it features extreme brilliance, good scratch resistance, and suitability for subsequent print finishing. For this cover, Zeroplast® technology was combined with Natureal engraving technology, which allows a pattern to be added to the silver-metalized surface to customize the design.
Printing
After applying SILVER LINE® KTM Gem, Varigrafica used its newly installed state-of-the-art system to print a white spot colour “bed” to create a matte effect for the subsequent four-colour process run. This solution emphasised the contrast between the substrate’s iridescent and metallic effects and the output of the LED-UV offset printing. The LED-UV offset printing was performed on the new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106-8P LED-UV, a press equipped with all automation and control systems, offering high efficiency and energy savings even during curing and drying. The process concluded with hot foil stamping.
