PRINTlovers #108 - Wide Format

The city inside. The cover opens a passage: the city becomes a room, with the interior overlooking the street. Facades, walls, and shop windows light up like printed backdrops, while the floor transforms into a patterned rug: a continuous surface where interior and exterior merge into a single visual landscape. Between pop geometries and textured materials, “domestic” furnishings inhabit urbanity like installations, and prints — posters, coverings, fabrics, decorations — serve as the language that connects nature and artifice, public space and intimacy. The result is a warm, immersive, and tactile experience: a high-end world where design doesn’t just occupy spaces but creates them.

The paper
Lecta Diva Art Duo 300 g
Diva Art Duo is a double-sided, coated SBS (Solid Bleached Sulphate) cardboard with a matt surface, offering excellent thickness and rigidity. It features superior printability, vibrant colour reproduction, and outstanding resistance to creasing. Diva Art Duo is FSC and PEFC certified and is intended for creative applications in luxury packaging and graphic design.

Hot foils
Oropress's Pearl White 063C99, a non-opaque, pearlescent foil used for the seat and armchair profiles, offers a diffused, opalescent glow, revealing a glimpse of the print underneath.
In contrast, the Ultra Matt Orange Copper 464NS07 and Ultra Matt Yellow 464S95 foils are used to highlight the building profiles and painting details, along with the Ultra Matt Fuchsia 464S52 foil applied to the sofa. These foils define the graphics with intense yet controlled colours. Their satin finish with a velvety texture absorbs light, creating silky, elegant surfaces. This distinctive effect is achieved through a formulation based on special resins and a matt polyester backing. The word “Lovers” is also created with Ultra Matt Yellow 464S95. The result is a cover that balances opalescence and opacity, with vivid, clear colours, showcasing how foil stamping can become a true design language.

Printing
The cover was printed by Ba.ia srl in 4-colour offset, with a Pantone and varnish reserve applied to some architectural details of the graphics.
Four Oropress hot foils were used to embellish and highlight the vertical lines and texture details of the furnishings in the graphic design that tells the story of Wide Format.
