How PRINTlovers 93 is made

Cover and back cover design by The 6th Creative Studio
For there to be real change, there has to be a movement that starts from the bottom, and in recent years we have seen a lot of movements related to human and social rights: the streets and squares have filled up again with Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street, Fridays for Future, Gilet Jaune just to name a few.
The graphics accompanying the protests in every corner of the world have something in common: the need for immediacy and the homemade technique, which translate into signs with hard strokes and often manual, oversized and irregular typography, as well as contrasting colours.
In this issue of PRINTlovers, we wanted to pay homage to them. The starting point is a NO, shouted by a single person that dominates the cover. On the back cover, the single person becomes a group in which everyone proposes to take action: to say, act, do. It's always the right time to change!

LUMAFIN® 720 red
Red is the predominant colour in the graphics of the back cover. It is the result of LUMAFIN® 720 red hot-foil stamped with hinderer + mühlich Italia cliché.
The special feature of this finishing effect is the characteristic semi-transparency that allows a glimpse of the underlying design, lending it brightness and character. The design is shiny, brilliant and unique in places where LUMAFIN® is printed on a solid colour, such as on the 'lovers' lettering on the cover.

Back Cover Printing and Finishing
For printing the back cover No. 93 of PRINTlovers, Varigrafica chose the H-UV Komori GL 840 offset press. In this exercise, the back cover is presented with few colours - but with definite impact - colours to which the Komori manages to give the right intensity.
They shout their strength and message in unison, an uprising of action and print performance given the high flexibility of the GL 840.
The ace up the sleeve of this back cover is undoubtedly the use of LUMAFIN® 720 red: thanks to this translucent effect, existing graphics take on new characteristics and potential. Utilizing traditional hot stamping, Varigrafica can give the basic design an innovative touch by creating different colour intensities; each element is thus represented with its own particular strength.

myWild by myCordenons
The cover and back cover of this edition of PRINTlovers were made from myWild by myCordenons, an extraordinarily natural paper made from 35% cotton that gives it an extremely pleasant surface to the touch. Lightly treated to improve runnability, it is also characterized by a high thickness. While its special tactile effect makes it easily recognizable in any creative project, its servant spirit best conveys the message of this edition: a little 'rough' but at the same time extraordinarily relevant and topical.
myWild is available in 5 variants inspired by the colours of nature, in 150 and 300 g/m². The range is completed by the myWild Natural version, characterized by a high thickness of up to 2 mm in the 850 grammage (only available in white). It is particularly suitable for embossing and letterpress.
